Born on June 27, 1922, in the town of Brookfield, he was the son of Anton and Gertrude (nee Hurtgen) Eckstein.
A dairy farmer in the town of Genesee for many years, he also was retired from Waukesha Engine after 20 years of work. Leo was married to Grace E. (nee Batten) Eckstein.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; his children, Darlene McKerrow of Pewaukee, Donna Eckstein of Dousman, Richard Eckstein of Palmyra, Robert Eckstein of Whitewater and John (Diane) Eckstein of Palmyra; his sisters, Ursula Schiller of Pewaukee and Vivian Roberts of Waukesha; and his sisters-in-law, Lillian Eckstein and Judy Eckstein, both of Waukesha. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Eugene, Victor, Paul and Edward.
