Maxine E. Miller, 74, of 146 26th St. NW, died Thursday afternoon in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness.

Born June 6, 1914, at Lincoln Neb., she married Sam Miller Oct. 6, 1934, at Morrison, Ill. He died in 1985. Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and St. Luke's Stroke Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Ellingson of Des Moines and Sally Yoder of Marion; a son, Sam of Decorah; a sister, Margaret Kehne of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held Saturday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Luke's Stroke Club, St. Luke's Hospital, 1026 A Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids 52402; American heart Association, 375 Collins Rd. NE, Suite 106, Cedar Rapids 52402; or St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1340 Third Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids 52403.
