Death of Verne Stevens at Barberton, Tuesday
The remains of Verne Stevens, whose death occurred at his home in Barberton, O., early Tuesday morning, August 15, were brought to Randolph arriving here Wednesday afternoon on train No. 8, and were taken to the Hoitink Funeral Home in Main Street. Deceased was 65 years of age. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. R. E. Van Atta of Barberton, O.; two brothers, Floyd Stevens of East Randolph, and Walter Stevens, Steamburg.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. R. Ralph Standley, pastor of Randolph Baptist church officiated. Those acting as bearers were Walter and Floyd Stevens and Ben and Oscar See. Interment was made in Steamburg cemetery.
Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Van Atta and son Robert, and Mrs. M. M. Stevens, Barberton, O.; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Stevens, Eldred, Pa.
