Son of Stephen Lenon and Demaris Jane Floyd Daniel. French married (1) Golah McCumber, and (2) Hettie Parker.


MULLINS - J. French Daniel, 99, died Tuesday. Born in Horry County, he was a son of the late Stephen L. and Mrs. Demaris Floyd Daniel. He was a retired farmer and employee of Dixon & Clark Tobacco Warehouse and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mullins. He was first married to the late Mrs. Golah McCumber Daniel.


Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hettie Parker Daniel; five daughters, Mrs. Lila McQueen Johnson of Conway, Mrs. Grace Price of Winston-Salem, NC, Mrs. Gladys Smith and Mrs. Clara "Mutt" Johnson, both of Mullins, and Mrs. James Day of Montgomery, Ala.; three stepsons, James Squires and Harold Squires, both of Conway, and Marshall Squires of Mullins; and three stepdaughters, Mrs. Imogene Lambert of Mullins, Mrs. Mary Ann Gerald and Ms. Faye McDaniels, both of Nichols.


Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mayers Memorial Park.
