Merna M. Allen, 94, Kirkwood, New York, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 20, 2008.

She was predeceased by her husband, Willard F. Allen; and several siblings. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Donald DeLorenzo; siblings, Merrill McClure and Lilas Collins; special family friend, Robert Snow.

Merna will be remembered as a ray of sunshine by all who came into contact with her. She will be fondly missed by all her customers, co-workers and camper buddies. Throughout her career she was employed by Fowlers, Sissons, McLean's, Sears and the BonTon. Her most memorable retail experience was at Barb-bee's factory outlet and the Fireside Inn. Merna worked with people up until 90 years of age.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at 12:00 noon at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, N.Y., with Rev. Nancy Stanley officiating.
