Russell Homer was the son of Roysel Hiram and Julianne Eunice VAUGHN DARROW. He m. Mary Elizabeth McCRACKEN 29 Oct 1871 and was the father of Flora Mae, James Joy, Jay Myron, Julia Eunice, Sarah Elizabeth Henderson, Rosanna Belle, Perry Russell and Frances Marion DARROW.

The people of Asherville and community were saddened on Monday when they learned of the death of one of the old settlers of that community in the person of Russell Homer Darrow. Death occurred at the home of the deceased at 3 p.m., the cause was given as heart failure.
Russell Homer Darrow was born at Sinclairville, Chatauqua Co. N. Y., November 25, 1837, and he came to Kansas in 1870. He was united in marriage to Mary E. McCracken of Beloit on October 29, 1871. To this union eight children were born, seven of whom are still living, and are as follows: Flora Bundy of Topeka, Ks.; Joy Darrow of Asherville, Ks., Jay Darrow of Hazelton, ID.; Julia Hosack of Willard, Ks.; Sadie Weaver of Simpson, Ks.; Rose Carter of Simpson, Ks.; Frances Grecian of Asherville. Perry Darrow died May 1, 1896. The deceased Russell Homer Darrow also leaves aside from his wife and children the following sisters and brother: Frances Darrow of Los Angels, CA; Sarah Vernon of Simpson, Ks; Esther Chapel of Woodston, Ks., Maria Ames of San Rafael, CA; and H. R. Darrow of Beloit.
R. H. Darrow was a charter member of the I. O. O. F. at Asherville and of the K. L. of S. No. 455. The funeral services will be held at the Baptist Church in Asherville and be conducted by Rev. Gilbert Park. Interment will be made in Asherville.

Hasack of Willard, Ks.; Mrs. Chris Weaver & Mrs. Chas. Carter of Simpson and Mrs. Elmer Grecian, Asherville. His son, Jay Darrow of Hazelton, ID not arriving in time.
