Washingtonville – Raymond E. "Chow" Longbottom, 91, of 435 East Main Street, died at 3:45 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his home with his family at his side.

Mr. Longbottom was born December 15, 1920 in Washingtonville, a son of the late Emmet E. and Bertha L. Mortimer Longbottom and had lived in this area all of his life.

He had been employed as a machinist at Copperweld Steel in Warren and E. W. Bliss in Salem. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during WWII in Guadalcanal, Cape Glouchester, New Britian, ;and the Ryukyu Islands, Okinawa. He was a member of the Robbins United Methodist Church, York Drexler Post #5532 VFW, Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion, Leetonia, the Amvets of Salem, the Leetonia Sportsman's Club, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Leetonia.

His wife, the former Josephine E. Frank, whom he married June 30, 1950 died October 26, 2001.

He is survived by three daughters, Theresa (Bill) Shasteen of Salem, J. D. (Norman) Kegelmyer of Washingtonville, and Marcia (Tim) Bradford of Salem; a son, Ed Longbottom of Leetonia; three sisters, Joan Tullis of Washingtonville, Averill Gottke of Paulding, OH, and Peg Reese of California; two brothers, Lloyd Briggs of Washingtonville and Chuck Longbottom of Columbiana; seven grandchildren, Bill Shasteen, Lisa Buffone, Marci Hendricks, Mandi Mellott, Joe Bradford, Ray Longbottom, and Halley Longbottom and nine great grandchildren.

A grandson, Timothy Bradford, Jr., a sister, Wanda McCoy and a brother Paul Longbottom are also deceased.

Burial will be in Washingtonville Cemetery.
