George Rand Commits Suicide By Hanging

George Walter Rand commited suicide Monday morning at sometime between 7:30 and 10 o'clock. His body was found hanging in his barn and it was apparent he had stood on a feed barrel to fasten the robe to a rafter, then had fixed a slipknot around his neck and stepped from the barrel. Coroner Al Pomeroy and Sheriff J.L Weathers investigated and the coroner asked that a jury be summoned. The jury returned a verdict of suiciide.
Mr. Rand was born at Wild Cherry on March 28, 1886 and died at his home here on Febuary 6, He had been employed by the North Arkansas Electric Cooperative here for some months, and had worked as a laborer on construction and other work in Salem.
Mr. Rand was married to Miss Janie Brinsfield at Iuka, Arkansas on January 19, 1908. She and threee children, Lloyd Rand of Salem, Elvis Rand of Shasta, California, and Elsie Rand of Destroy, Michigan survive. He leaves also four brothers; Arthur Rand of Florida, Frank of Lake City, Troy Rand of Black Oak, Bob Rand of Lake City, and sic sisters Mrs. Silas Marchant of Viola, Mrs. Leroy Marchant of Rogers, Mrs. Arrie Dillard of Springdale, Mrs. Ollie Brown of Moody, Missouri, Mrs. Nellie Isom of Florida and Mrs. Texanner Shoemate of Elizabeth.
