Margaret Hull, also known as Helen Margaret Wood Hull, was born in Hudson, New York, the daughter of Charles George Bravender and Teleonra Flouton Bravender. Her birth name was Margaret Bravender, nick-named "Maggie" as per census records. She had two younger brothers with her mother at the time of her father’s death, George C. Bravender and Harold Bravender. Margaret and her brother George were placed in an orphan’s asylum and were listed as inmates in the 1905 New York census. Harold, the newborn, stayed with his mother. Margaret was eventually placed in foster care with the Henry N. Wood family of Brutus, Cayuga County, New York. Margaret assumed the name of Helen Margaret Wood and was married in Weedsport to Murrell Roy Hull of Gibsonville, New York on June 28, 1917. Margaret moved to Gibsonville, Town of Leicester, Livingston County, New York the same day and stayed in that area for the rest of her life.

The Flouton name was more commonly spelled as Floughton.
In some records, Bravender is also spelled as Brabender.

The children of Charles George Bravender and Teleonra Flouton have not all been identified. More research has to be done to identify them and clarify this relationship.
