She was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Wooster, the daughter of Anthony Sr. and Jennie A Landi Vizzo, and retired from The College of Wooster as a switchboard operator, had been a cook at Lincoln Way Elementary School and was a seamstress.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Lamplighters Auxiliary. Mary Jo loved to crochet, work puzzles, play cards and bingo.
Surviving are children Vicki (Jack) Schlarb and Doug Barnes, both of Wooster and Thomas (Teresa) Barnes of Saegertown, Pa.; grandchildren, Candice Evans of Ashland, Jamie (Brandon) Haumesser of Wooster, Matthew and Joseph Barnes of Meadville, Pa., and Kara and Abby Barnes of Wooster; great-grandchildren, Braden and Addyson Haumesser; and brothers, Tony, Mike (Jeanie) and Ron (Lana) Vizzo, all of Wooster.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a grandchild, Chris Kaylor; a brother, Don Vizzo; and a sister, Isabella Taylor.
Friends will be received Sunday, Dec. 9 from 5-7 p.m. at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster, with the Rev. Stephen Moran as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Wooster.
