Martin is the second husband of Druzilla Jenkins. They married on Oct. 16, 1861 in Yadkinville (Yadkin Co.), NC.
Druzilla and Martin had 10 children together:
Nancy (Faircloth) Sherman, Mary Louisa (Faircloth) Weir, Jacob Thomas Faircloth, Elizabeth (Faircloth) Benson, Bartholomew Faircloth, Ida May (Faircloth) Benson, Harriett (Faircloth) Benson, Joshua Faircloth, Josephine (Faircloth) Crownsea, and Addison Faircloth.

Martin Served in the Civil War. He enlisted on Sept. 23, 1864 as a Private in Company I of the 10th Infantry Regiment Iowa at the age of 24. He served in various battles including the Battle of Champion Hill, Battle of Vicksburg and participated in Sherman's March to the Sea. Martin mustered out on May 29, 1865 in Washington DC with his unit.
