Stella Brotherhood was married, first, to William Archibald (“Archie”) McDonald. Archie was born about 1889 in Masham, Wright County, Ontario, Canada. His occupation is given on his marriage certificate as trainman. He and Stella both lived in Ottawa, Ontario before their marriage which took place on August 5, 1908 in Braeside, Renfrew County, Ontario. Archie’s parents are listed on the marriage certificate as Daniel McDonald and Mary Ellen Fairbairn. Unfortunately, Stella and Archie’s marriage didn’t work out and they were divorced in about 1909, but that date is uncertain.
Stella and Archie had one child, Dorothy MacDonald (sic).
Stella married, secondly, William James (“Bill”) Archibald (b. June 20, 1892; Canada) on February 25, 1918 in Waukegan, IL. They had no children. They remained married until Bill’s death on March 25, 1944.
Stella was known for her devotion to her family, and especially to her daughter, Dorothy, who became deaf and blind after an early childhood illness.
Stella loved to cook and bake, and as a hobby, collected recipes.
She was a gentle soul.
