Mrs. Frances A. Ficklin, widow of Arthur Graham Ficklin and a prominent resident of the King City community more than 50 years, died Tuesday at Methodist Hospital, St. Joseph, where she had been a patient several weeks. She was 86 years old on April 28. Her funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Christian church, conducted by the Rev. Gilbert Yerian, and burial was in King City Cemetery. Mrs. Ficklin was a prominent and active Democrat and came by it naturally. She was a daughter of Judge and Mrs. Joshua W Alexander of Gallatin Missouri and her father was Secretary of Interior in the of President Woodrow Wilson. Mrs. Ficklin never aspired to political office but served as a delegate to a number of her parties conventions. Active also in religious affairs Mrs. Ficklin had been a member of the Christian church throughout her long residence here. She was a 50 year member of the P. O. E. sisterhood. Mrs. Ficklin was a graduate of Gallatin high school, Grand River College and St. Louis Art Institute. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, a kind neighbor and a dependable friend. Surviving are the sister who lived with Mrs. Ficklin here, Mrs. Rowena Alexander; two brothers Preston Carter Alexander of Bethesda, Maryland, and Lawrence Woodward Alexander of Gallatin; for nieces and two nephews.
