John Edward Alexander, II died Friday, December 7, 2012 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. John was born in Hamilton, Texas on September 13, 1946 to John E. Alexander and his wife, Annie Lillian Shipman Alexander. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1965, and next attended North Texas State University in Denton, Texas until he joined the United States Navy in February of 1967. He faithfully served his country as a communications technician on the USS Oxford during the Vietnam Conflict earning the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam War Service Medal with 2 bronze stars. He returned to Hamilton in October of 1970 and immediately joined his parents in the family business of manufacturing wood mouldings. Shortly thereafter his Father retired, and John succeeded him as the President of Alexander Moulding Mill, Co. Inc. and grew the business to become one of the largest employers in Hamilton County during the 1980's. John lived the remainder of his life in Hamilton County, Texas focused on the family business and its employees who he proudly called his friends. John was preceded in death by both of his parents. He leaves behind a daughter, Johnece Alexander, and her sons, Taylor Bates, Lane Alexander, and Tristen Armstrong; a son, Derek Alexander, two sisters, Betty Wheeler of Hamilton, Texas and Nancy Hengst of Hamilton, Texas, many nieces and a nephew and their families. He also leaves his extended family of Carmen Garrett, and his former wife Joy Alexander, and his many friends and business associates who cared for him for many years, especially through his last year of illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton, Texas with graveside services to follow immediately at Oakwood Cemetary in Hamilton, Texas
