Front Page: Funeral Services Today For A.G. Higginbotham
Albert G. "Bus" Higginbotham, who served as the Wetzel County assessor for 19 years, died Monday in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, at age 79.
A resident of 307 Leap St., New Martinsville, Higginbotham was born Jan. 30, 1903, in Jacksonburg, Wetzel County, son of the late Albert and Jane Mathews Higginbotham.
He was a member of the Bridge Street Church of Christ, New Martinsville.
Surviving are his wife, Garnet Postlethwait Higginbotham, a son, Frank of Chester; three daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Joreen) Nicola of Wintersville, Mrs. Dana (Sonia) Rine of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. James (Nita Faye) Steelback of Wytheville, Va.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Wells Funeral Home, 515 Maple Ave., New Martinsville, yesterday. Friends will also be received at the Bridge Street Church of Christ, New Martinsville, from noon today until services at 1 p.m. with Evangelist Bernard McGrath officiating. Interment in Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville.
The Wetzel County Assessor's office will be closed all day today and the Wetzel County Courthouse will be closed from noon until 2:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Valley College, Parkersburg, W.Va.
