Nellie was the daughter of Anna Loretta Stine and the step daughter of James Oliver Staten Armold.

Nellie was born Monday, July 3, 1905, in Wabash, Mineral County, West Virginia, which lies between Highway 42 and Highway 50, just east of Mount Storm, West Virginia. Wabash once had a train station and a post office but is now a ghost town.

Nellie married Amos Gordon Parker on August 25, 1925 in Taylor, Hardy County, West Virginia. Nellie and Gordon had no children. They owned a gas station and convenience store on Fairview Street, in Piedmont, Mineral County, West Virginia. (Building no longer exists.) After selling the gas station, they purchased a saloon and dance hall on Allegany Mountain, near Mount Storm, West Virginia, which they owned until their divorce, prior to 1940.

Nellie then married Hugh C. Nicholson, date of marriage unknown. They lived in Leesburg, Loudon County, Virginia.

There is a discrepancy between the birthdate on Nellie's birth certificate and the birthdate on her death certificate. Actual birthdate is July 3, 1905. Nellie died August 9, 1956 in Leesburg, Loudon County, Virginia, USA.
