Mrs. Nellie Yard Dies Monday in Local Hospital
Mrs. Nellie Yard, 55, long time resident of Canon City, died Monday at a local hospital following a lengthy illness that became serious the last of September. Mrs. Yard came to Canon City as a small child and lived the remainder of her life here. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm from the Wilson Mortuary and interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Mrs. Yard was born Oct. 8, 1906, at Victor, Colorado. She was married to Robert M. Yard on Sept. 29, 1923 at Pueblo. She made her home at 840 South Sixth, Canon City. Mrs. Yard is survived by her husband, Robert and the following children: Norman James, Denver; Frank A. Colorado Springs; Earnest M. Stationed with the Navy at San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren; the following brothers and sister: Leslie Isabell, Canon City; Mrs. Daphna Hayes, Eagle; Earl Isabell, Canon City; James Isabell, Shell Beach, Calif. One son preceded his mother in death as an infant. Mrs. Yard was a beauty operator at one time. She was an active member of the First Christian Church and a member of the CSP Auxiliary.
