Son of Joseph and Susan Armor Newcomer. Husband of Mary Frances McGuire Newcomer; married 25 December 1869 in Marysville, Nodaway County,MO. Father of Catherine Kennedy ("Kate") Newcomer, John Newcomer, Fred Arthur ("Budd") Newcomer, Anna Belle Smith, Edwin Vance Newcomer and Edward.
Frederick fought for the union during the civil war. He was at the Battle of Monocacy ("the battle that saved Washington, D.C.") and he was wounded at Antietam. He also built things and some of his handiwork can still be seen around Sheridan. Part of his story is printed in the book "Sheridan County Heritage".
He's my husband Dale's great-grandfather. Since I was born in Maryland not far from Hagerstown, my husband enjoys telling people that we're cousins.
