POLO - Marietta Volz, 76, of Polo, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died Wednesday, Feb 15, 2006, in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She enjoyed being a homemaker and creating crafts with her husband. Marietta and her mother, Frances Toms, were well-known in the area for housecleaning and quilting. Marietta was born April 6, 1929, in Pine creek Township, the only daughter of Frances and Cyrus Toms. she married Vernon H Volz of Polo on June 6, 1948. Survivors include her husband, Vernon of Polo; children , Jeanne (Jeffrey) Kuhn of Dixon and John (Bonnie) of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Laura Kuhn of Lisle, Paul Kuhn of Dixon and Jacob Volz of Machesney Park; brothers, Leroy (Helen) Toms and Harold (Beth) Toms of Polo, and Robert (Darlene) and Burton (Anne Marie) of Dixon; as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, and brothers, Leon, Clarence and Maurice Toms.
Service at 11 am Monday, Feb 20, in Emmanuel United Methodist Church,. Visitation from 5 to 8 pm. Saturday, Feb 18, in Benson funeral Home, 110 E Dixon St, Polo. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
