Dorothy Albrightson, age 99, of Woodville, Wisconsin died Friday evening at Park View Home, Inc., Woodville. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Woodville. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at church prior to the service.

Dorothy was born February 6, 1913, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Peter and Christine (Lee) Gaustad. They moved to her grandparents' farm in Eau Galle Township when she was 6. She was confirmed at North Rush River Church and later joined Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville.

She attended Woodville High School and graduated in 1930. She then attended River Falls Normal School and taught at the Birchdale Country School for 2 years.

On June 2, 1933 Dorothy was married to Joe Albrightson at her parents' home in Eau Galle. They bought the neighboring farm and lived there for 60 years. After retirement they worked for their son Larry at his I.G.A. Store in Woodville. They both enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Norway. They had many relatives visit them from Norway also. Dorothy brushed up on her Norwegian and got very good at writing it and also did a lot of translating for others.

Dorothy had a very good sense of humor. She was a very quiet person, and many were amazed at her wit. She had a green thumb and made many plants look great after family had brought them to her for TLC. She remembered every birthday and all other occasions of her family including grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some were lucky enough to get a bag of her homemade doughnuts, which she made until 2 years ago. She truly enjoyed all her company while she lived in Woodville. The coffee pot was always on.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Joe; son Donald; daughter JoAnne Jensen; grandson Joseph Zignego; her parents Peter Gaustad and Christine Anderson; and brother Carroll Gaustad and his wife Myrtle.

Dorothy is survived by her 2 daughters Lucille (John) Zignego of Lake Elmo, MN.; Dorene (Walter) Jacobson of Woodville; her son Larry (Bev) Albrightson and son-in-law Art Jensen and his wife Merlee; all of Woodville; 10 grandchildren: Kathy (Dave) Lindevig; Rusty (Julie) Zignego; Kristy (Robert) Kroening; Kelly (Craig) Albrightson; Jeff (Tina) Zignego; Greg (Mary) Jacobson; Brian (Mindy) Jacobson; Steven (Robin) Jensen; Tammy (Barry) Rose; and Lance (Angie) Albrightson. Also 33 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and her many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Dorothy were on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Woodville with Rev. Keith Anderson officiating. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Music was provided by organist Judy Albrightson and vocalists Keith Albrightson, Elaine Albrightson, and Sylvia Sandvig. Pallbearers were grandsons: Rusty Zignego, Jeff Zignego, Steve Jensen, Brian Jacobson, Greg Jacobson, and Lance Albrightson. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Woodville.
