Amelia "Mildred" Erma Menapace, age 95, was born on November 6, 1906 in the Territory of Colorado, Walsenburg and a resident of Gallup until moving to Albuquerque in 1937, passed away in a local nursing home on Tuesday, May 28, 2002. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Menapace Sr., her sons, Edward Louis Menapace (lost at sea in the US Navy in 1953) and Arthur Frank Menapace and her daughter, Marcia Mae Menapace-Quinn. Mildred is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Bentz and her husband, Leon P. of Albuquerque and Diane Michele Menapace of Albuquerque, son, Frank B. Menapace Jr. and his wife, Rosetta of Virginia Beach, VA, daughter-in-law, Lorry Bonaguidi Menapace of Gallup, NM, nine grandchildren, Tina Trujillo, Greg Bentz, Edward Bentz, Holli Robinson, Stacy Thompson, Brian Menapace, Jenna Armentrout, Valarie Quinn and Kara Quinn, ten great-grandchildren, Michael Vanderwoude, Ian Vanderwoude, Brittany Bentz, Justin Baker, Spencer Thompson, Max Thompson, Samantha Bentz, Zackery Trujillo, Torrie Bentz and Giana Armentrout. Mrs. Menapace was a member and one of the founders of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Mildred was a lifelong member of the American Gold Star Mother. Viewing and Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rosary will be recited by Rev. Frank Prieto on Friday, May 31, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Rev. Francis X. Eggert, Celebrant. Serving as Casket bearers will be Greg Bentz, Edward Bentz, Justin Baker, Brian Menapace, Michael Trujillo and Brian Thompson. Entombment will follow a Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Gold Star Mothers Memorial, 2128 Leroy Place NW, Washington, DC 20008-1873, in honor of Mildred E. Menapace.
