CHEBOYGAN - Bernice Barrette, 84, of Cheboygan, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2003, at the Hospice House in Cheboygan, where she had been a resident for the past three years.
Mrs. Barrette was born in Newberry, Mich., the daughter of Albert and Florence (Gilmore) Graham. She married Albert "Spike" Barrette on Nov. 17, 1934, in Cheboygan. The Barrettes made their home in Livonia until 1974, at which time they moved to Florida. They returned to the Cheboygan area in 1999.
Bernice is survived by three sons, William J. (Norma) Barrette and Donald (Patti) Barrette, both of Cheboygan, and Gerald L. (June) Barrette of Harahan, La.; one daughter, Janet R. Bosnak of New Port Richie, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Orval, Jack, Harold, Raymond, Richard, and Robert; and sisters Evelyn, Edna and Carol.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date, which will be published at that time. Memorials may be directed to Hospice House of Cheboygan. Published in the Cheboygan Daily Tribune, June 3, 2001.
