Alexander Adair was born in Chatam Ont, Canada, April 15th, 1922, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E.W. Voss, Mazomanie, Wis.
He came to the States with his parents when nine years of age. They settled in Green Co., Wis. Where he spent his early life. In 1871 he was married to Geraldine Osgood, who preceded him in death thirty years ago.
To them were given eleven children, six of whom survive him. Lewis Adair of Armour So. Dakota, Mrs. Elva Voss, Mazomanie, Wis., Della Blunt, Freeport, Ill., Mrs. Mary Kelly, Winslow, Ill., Mrs. Mracia Hartung, and Mrs. Adaline Affleck, Butte, Mont., also fifteen grandchildren, four sisters and one brother.
In 1883 he moved with his family to South Wayne, Wis., being one of the first to settle there. He lived there until five years ago when he came to Mazomanie and made his home with his daughter.
He was a veteran of the civil war serving in the 18th Wisconsin. He was a kind father. During his stay in Mazomanie, he made many friends and many lifelong friends in South Wayne.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in South Wayne, Tuesday, Rev. Pow officiating. Burial was made in the Hoffman cemetery.
