Died near Crescent City, Putnam County, Florida, on March 26th, 1884, William Lowndes Calhoun, at the early age of twenty-six years and four months.
The remains were brought to this city, and on yesterday, the funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Williams at the Episcopalian Church. Nearly all our citizens were included in the long procession which escorted the remains to their last resting place on the beautiful Heights which overlook the city. Mr. Calhoun was loved and admired by all who knew him, a true friend, a brilliant logician, and a lawyer whose promise of excellence at a riper age was recognized by all his brethren at the bar.
To the sorrowing relatives, from our whole population will come the voice of condolence, all the more earnest because we knew the lovable qualities and true worth which will endear to us the memory of the early dead. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd Friday, 28 Mar 1884.)
