Velma Ferriel, 100, of Lebanon, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 4, 2012 at Mercy Hospital Lebanon.

She was born Dec. 24, 1911, near Hartville, Mo. to Jessie Alonzo "Lon'' and Ella May Mansker Wood.

On. Jan. 1, 1928 she married Loman Basil Ferriel, who preceded her in death on July 21, 1971. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Esther Young; a grandson, Phillip Young; three sisters, Nettie Gregory, Opal Rowe, and Agnes Hensley; a half-brother, Cecil Wood; a half-sister, Cora Sullivant; three nephews, and two nieces.

She was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family throughout the years.

She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Gasconade River. After moving to Hartville she joined First Baptist Church. She was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon for the last several years, and faithfully attended as long as her health allowed.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Butts and her husband, John, of Springfield, and Wilda Ferriel, of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Donna Frey and her husband, Bob, Rick Young and his wife, Carolyn, Lee Ann Young, Diana Wilkerson and her husband, Lyle, Donald Fisher and his wife, Carol, Glen Fisher, and Robert "Bob'' Fisher and his wife, Thresa; six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, two great-great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Velma Ferriel will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon with the Rev. David Brown officiating.

Burial was in the Steele Memorial Cemetery in Hartville, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Friends may call at their convenience in the funeral home.

Memorial donations to Hillcrest Baptist Church may be left at the funeral home.
