One of nine children of Claiborne Adams, a carpenter, "Roy" Adams became a construction superintendent in profession, and lived much of his adult life in Houston, Texas and returned to Ft. Worth in retirement with his wife Imogene Kemper Adams. Their only child was James "Jimmie" Royce Adams.
Roy Adams and his younger brother G.G. "Mickey" Adams were close friends as they both worked as construction superintendents and were born only 5 years apart.
