Longtime Kasilof resident Arlin Lantious Snook died Friday, June 11, 2004, at the Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage from cancer. He was 63.
Graveside services will be held noon Wednesday, June 16, at the Spruce Grove Memorial Park in Kasilof. The Rev. David W. O'Dell will officiate. Memorial services and a gathering will follow the services at the Dornbusch Homestead off of Tustumena Road in Kasilof.
Mr. Snook was born Aug. 31, 1941, to William and Mary Snook in Hominy, Okla. He brought his family to Alaska in October of 1972. Mr. Snook worked as a drywaller by trade but also worked on the North Slope as well as fished.
He liked to play guitar and sing. He had his own band for a number of years before he moved to Alaska, after which he joined a few local bands.
Mr. Snook attended Kenai Peninsula College and majored in computer programming, math and electronics.
"Our dad was always an upbeat and happy person who never complained. Even through his illness, he maintained his spirit. He had a good life and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him," his family said.
Mr. Snook was preceded in death by eight siblings.
He is survived by his former spouse and good friend, Nina McKoon of Kasilof; sons, Arlin Snook Jr. of Kasilof, Arney Snook of Broken Bow, Okla., and Sam Wright of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; daughters, Tammy Faucher of Kasilof, Tina Sweeten of Kasilof and Holly Hatten of Soldotna; brothers, Albert and Marvin Snook; sisters, Ellen Manner and Stella Casey; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and many extended family and friends.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
