Elizabeth Louise VanEtten, resident of Shell Lake for many years, passed away at the Spooner Rest Home on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 8th at the age of 94 years, 11 mos. and 9 days.
She was born February 29, 1864, at Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to Frank Simmons and Margaret Stevens Simmons, and in her early childhood the family moved to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
On November 28, 1881, she was united in marriage to Charles H. VanEtten, at Chippewa Falls. In 1892 the family moved to Shell Lake, Wisconsin, and followed the occupation of farming. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Shell Lake.
She is survived by 4 daughters: (Catherine) Mrs. Fred Keezer, Anacortes, Washington; (Ethel) Mrs. Clarence Bush of Carlton, Minn., (Margaret) Mrs. William Schon, and (Mildred) Mrs. Charles Schon, both of Shell Lake; 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Her husband, 2 sons, 2 sisters, and one brother preceded her in death.
Funeral Services were held at the Blume Funeral Home, Shell Lake, on Wednesday, February 11th at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. H. C. Logan officiating and interment was in Shell Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Howard Pearson, Earl Reinhart, Fred Bush, Douglas Lutz, Charles Lutz, and John Dahlstrom.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. Clarence Bush and James R. Bush of Carlton, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Bush of Duluth, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Newell Trumbower of Pardeeville, Wis.; Mrs. Maud Banek, Mrs. Coral Draxton, and Rose Sauer of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
