Paul Steven Ryan, age 60, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at his home following a long illness.

Steve was born May 31, 1952 in Batesville, IN to Paul Ryan and Hazel (Strunk) Ryan. He graduated from Milan High School with the class of 1970, and worked as a carpenter with the local union. Steve was a good carpenter, and loved doing trim work. He served his country in the US Army during the Viet Nam Conflict in Germany.

Steve enjoyed the outdoors, and fishing in farm ponds around the area. He never met a stranger, and would take plates of food to needy people all the time.

In 1998 he was married to Cindy (Watts) and they had a wonderful marriage together.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, David & Jim Ryan, and Allen Stoneking; 1 nephew, Timm Ryan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; 4 brothers, Donald Ryan and Joe Ryan, both of Milan, Jerry Ryan, of Manchester, and Mike Ryan, of Fairfield, OH; 1 sister, Kim (Kenneth) Goodpaster, of Aurora; special step grandchildren; Karisa Binz, Shaun, Dawson, and Chance Vilardo; and his step son, Shaun Vilardo.

Friends may meet Steve's family on Sunday, Dec 9, 2012 from 3-6 p.m. at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. The funeral service will be Monday, Dec 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Dillsboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Jann Heseman and Pastor Tom Fehrman officiating. Interment with full military rites will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro.

The family would appreciate memorials to PAWS or to a fund to help them with medical expenses that have been incurred.
