My dad landed in France on D-Day (later on during that day from what I have been told). He saw with his own eyes the death and carnage that happened there. He went on to see battles in France, Belgium and Germany. He was a loader to a Bofors 40 MM antiaircraft battery during the war. He said that the enemy aircraft sometimes flew so high that it was difficult to tell if the aircraft were enemy or friendly. If the aircraft was enemy, they would let loose with the guns. The Bofors gun would also be used against targets like bunkers and armed vehicles. He was close to the action during the "Battle of the Bulge". He said that could hear the constant rumble of big guns firing during battles. When the war ended, he finally came back home to his family. (The picture was a random picture of a Bofors antiaircraft gun and its unknown crew.)

Carlton R Eason of Douglasville died June 14, 1944. He was a veteran of World War II and was a retired Douglas County school bus driver. Funeral services will be 4pm at the Whitley-Garner Chapel in Douglasville with Rev Garvin Dykes and Rev Jesse Napoli officiating. Interment will be at the Cold Springs Church Cemetery on Post Road.
