George Young VanSciver was the son of David and Matilda (King) VanSciver. In the 1870 census he was 33 years old and a clerk in a store. He married Sarah W. Troth on October 12, 1859. She was born in 1835 and passed away on February 26, 1900. Their children were Sarah R., Elizabeth F. and Mary Ella VanSciver.

Wedding Notice
On the 12th utl. (October, 1859), by the same Rev. J. Lewis, George Young VanSciver to Sarah W. Troth, both of Burlington.

Obituary Notice of George Y. VanSciver
Aged 69 years. Died after protracted illness. One of the pioneer shoe manufacturers of Burlington. Was a prominent member of the Hope Fire company.
