Mary T. Trelease, 97, of Cheyenne passed away early Sept. 11 at the Davis Hospice Center.

Mrs. Trelease was born Jan. 18, 1914, in Fort Collins, Colo., a daughter of the late Harry S. and Mary E. (Brown) Thayer.

Mary graduated from high school in Colorado Springs and was a graduate of Colorado University in 1936, receiving a degree in home economics and serving as a member of the Delta Gamma Society.

She married Frank J. Trelease Jr. in 1936 and they raised their family in Laramie, with later residence in California and Arizona before moving to Cheyenne in 1991. Mary and her husband enjoyed world travel, the outdoors and entertaining their friends. She was well known in Laramie for the hundreds of Christmas cookies she baked and shared with her friends. She was a veracious reader and avid bridge player, having received a Junior Master ranking.

Mary is survived by her granddaughters, Gail Brown and husband, Warren, of Ogden, Utah, Anne Coletti and husband, Robert, of Little Rock, Ark., and Amy Bell and husband, Mike, of Cheyenne; seven great-grandchildren, Farrell and Trent Brown, Christian, Corinna, Caleb and Corban Coletti, and Jonathan Bell; her daughter-in-law, Pat Kennedy and husband, Ken; and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank J. Trelease Jr. in 1986; her son, Frank Trelease III in 1990; and two sisters.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.

Trelease Scholarship Fund, which was established for University of Wyoming Law School students at the time of Mr. Trelease's death, c/o University of Wyoming Foundation, P.O.
