Burndetta was born on May 13, 1921, to Grant Whitmore and Eva Annette (Fanning) Sease near Nemaha, Delaware Township, Sac County, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Nemaha where she remained a lifetime member. She attended Nemaha Consolidated School, graduating in 1938. Before her marriage she attended Buena Vista College.
On January 28, 1939, Burndetta was united in marriage to Charles Milton Olson at Elk Point, South Dakota. They made their home near Nemaha and were blessed with six children. She was a loving and wonderful mother and grandmother, providing a comfortable home for her family with her beautiful crocheting, sewing and quilting projects. She also enjoyed fishing, traveling and playing cards. Burndetta was the US Postmaster in Nemaha for many years, retiring in 1991.
Burndetta will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, including her children: Sharon (Nelson) Edwards of Alta Loma, CA; Allen (Kay) Olson of Nemaha; Maureen Jensen (Willie) Freeman of Inglewood, CA; Carole (Steven) Schramm of Fremont, NE; Charles (Jackie) Olson, Jr. of Ames, IA; and Kenneth (Leora) Olson of Orange City, IA; 17 grandchildren: Dana Kay Barron, Tim Olson, Tammi Villalva, Barry Jensen, Terry Olson, John Schramm, Debbie Archer, Kathy Olson, Denise Miller, Scott Schramm, Belinda Wagner, Carmen Hogue, Tony Olson, Marty Olson, Nick Olson, Trent Olson, and Alex Olson; 26 great-grandchildren: and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother Eva Fanning Sease; father Grant Sease; husband Charles Milton Olson; granddaughter Dea Ann Bush; great-grandson Jeremy Porter; brother Edmond Sease; and four sisters: Elizabeth Smith, Theda Gasiner-Laighton, Glydise Watrin and Janet Irene in infancy.
