Herman was born in Ecorse Township to Carl and Sophia Becker. He married Ida Catrina Wilhelmina (nee: Krueger) Frank on September 25, 1909 in Taylor Center, Michigan. Ida was born in 1878, and had been widowed a few years earlier; she also had a young daughter Elsie who was born in 1904..

There were 3 additional children from their marrage:
1911 - Alma Sophia (married name Kerezi)
1913 - Harold Herman
1916 - Irene Margaret (married name Voight)

Sadly, step-daughter Elsie Frank died in 1913 due to diphtheria - she was just 9 years old.

Herman was a Pioneer Farmer in Allen Park.

He and Ida were divorced on October 19, 1937.

Herman died from a Coronary Occlusion and Myocardial Infarction. Although he died in Manchester, he was living in Pleasant Lake, MI at the time of his death. He is buried alongside his step-daughter Elsie Frank, without a marker (although Elsie's grave does have a marker - shown in the included image). The other 2 graves in the Herman Becker plot are empty. (Ex-wife Ida was buried in Michigan Memorial Park.)
