Raymond B. Fritz was born in Winterhaven, California on November 8, 1918 to Lillian Juni and John Henry Fritz. He passed away in San Diego, California on May 19, 2003. Ray graduated from Yuma High School in 1936. He married Mary Louise Whaley in 1938 and they had two children.

He served in the Army during WWII. Most of his service was spent in combat in the Philippine Islands, where he earned a purple heart. Ray spent most of his life in Yuma, with summers in San Diego where his mother resided. Ray was a Real Estate Broker and owned Ray Fritz Realty, where he specialized in the sale of farmland throughout Yuma County. He was a respected and well-liked business man for many years. He was a long time member of the Yuma Elks Lodge and a past Exalted Ruler.

During his lengthy retirement years, Ray enjoyed extensive travel throughout the world. He was an avid reader and enthusiastic fan of football. He loved to fish and hunt. Ray enjoyed a healthy life filled with zest and humor. Because his birth date fell so close to Veteran's Day, his mother called him her 'Dove of Peace', and he was truly that- with never an unkind word about anyone and a friend to all.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jack Fritz Sr. and Harry Fritz; and his second wife Lou Stallworth Fritz.

Survivors include his daughter, Toody Fritz Stapleton; his son, Raymond Gene Fritz (Karen) of Yuma; grandson, Christian Fritz and great granddaughter Ashley Lynn Fritz, of Worcester, Massachusetts; his stepson, Richard Stallworth (Sue) of Yuma; his beloved companion, Norma Rogers and her family, and many adoring nephews and nieces.

Ray's easy chuckle amused us... his outlook on life inspired us. We will miss him. Services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Johnson Mortuary, with visitation at 9:00 a.m. and service at 10:00 a.m. Honorary pall bearers are Bob Lutes, Pat Conner, Nels Rogers, Tom Rogers, Chuck Watson and Al Furrow.
