Samuel C. “Chick” Gross Sr. (1891-1955), 64, of Palatka, died early today in the Veterans’ Administration Hospital, Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the W. Carl Davis & Son Chapel with Dr. H. K. Masteller officiating. Interment will be in West View Cemetery. The American Legion will conduct the graveside rites.
Surviving is the wife, Mrs. Ruby Grover Gross, Palatka; one son, S. C. Gross, Jr., Delray Beach; mother, Mrs. R. E. Barrow, Fruitland, and three grandchildren.
Mr. Gross was born at Ft. Gates on Jan 6, 1891 and moved to Palatka from that area 50 years ago. From 1919 to 1953 he operated Chick’s Lunch. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Bert Hodge Post No. 45, American Legion. Palatka Daily News, Tuesday,20 Sep 1955.
