Franklin A. DeLong, 81, West Wyomissing, died Dec. 26 (2005) at 12:34 p.m. in the Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 9. He was the husband of Janet V. (Goodhart) DeLong. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Winfield G. and Carrie (Stirk) DeLong. DeLong was employed for 18 years as a civilian electrician by Olmsted Air Force Base, Middletown, Dauphin County, and was employed for eight years by Progress Electric, Wyomissing, until his retirement. He was an Army veteran of World War II. DeLong was a life member of the West Lawn Quoiting Club and the social quarters of the West Wyomissing Fire Company. He participated in the Spring Township Volunteer Fire Company's ribbon-cutting ceremony for the dedication of its firehouse. DeLong also is survived by two sisters, Florence (DeLong) Davies, Salem, N.H., and Betty J. (DeLong) Conrad, Wyomissing. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc. West Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
