Ruth A. Longan
Ruth A. Longan, 83, of 909 N. Grand, died at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 1981, at the Medicalodge South. She had been a resident of Medicalodge since February.
She was born Dec. 4, 1897, in Texarkana, Texas, the daughter of Ernest M. and Millie Pearl Thackeray Trout. She came to the area with her parents as a young girl and lived in Garland and Mulberry. She had lived in Pittsburg more than 50 years.
She married Clifton Longan. He died in 1966 in California.
Mrs. Longan worked as a housekeeper in private homes and as a babysitter. She was a member of the Countryside Christian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Ralph Longan of Woodland, Calif., James Longan of Frontenac and Richard Longan of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two daughters, Juanita Bedene of Overland Park and Pat Guilhempe of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Erford M. Trout of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Osola Prideaux of Girard and Eva Treat of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Bath Funeral Home with the Rev. James Terral of the Countryside Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Bath Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
