MULLINS - Mrs. Mattie Collins Hatfield, 79, widow of C. R. Hatfield, died early Wednesday morning at the home of her son Brick Hatfield on Gapway Street here. She had been in declining health for several years and was critically ill for three weeks.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday from Meares Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Lewis E. McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedardale Cemetery.
Mrs. Hatfield was born in Marion County, a daughter of the late William T. and Sarah Jane Brown Collins. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Brick Hatfield of Mullins and Hagood Hatfield of Seattle, Washington; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Dean of Portland, Oregon; a sister, Mrs. Rosa Rogers of Mullins; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
