She was born December 30, 1926, in Bucyrus, Ohio a daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Baumgardner Thompson.
Florence was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse with 32 years of service at Mercy and SOMC's s ICU and Emergency rooms as well as Dr. David Hanzel's office. She attended Duck Run and McDermott Schools and was a member of Central Church of Christ in Portsmouth.
She was also preceded in death by three husbands, Paul LeBrun, killed in WWII, 1943, Robert A. Free, and Donald Wagner, May 20, 1995; one son, Bobby Free and two grandchildren, Joey and Jennifer Free and one "buddy," Helen Dunham.
She is survived by two sons George "Larry" (Emogean) LeBrun of McDermott, Steve (Susan) Free of Nile Twp; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and one sister Donna Jean Thompson of Dayton; daughter-in-law Jenny Free of Peebles; a foster brother, Vernon Allen of Vista, California, whom she dearly loved; and three "buddies" Bertie Danes, Delores Timberlake and Debbie Wilkerson.
Florence loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati "Bangels".
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2012. at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Peter Michael and Gerald Penix officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call 5 p.m, until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to local veteran's organizations and local food pantries.
