Once more death has entered our community and removed from our midst our neighbor and friend, Frank Butke. He was born in Germany, May 30th, 1870, and died Wednesday, Nov, 17th at 8 o'clock a. m., thus being 50 years, six months and 18 days old at the time of death. When he was 1 1/2 years of age his family migrated to this country, settling in Dodge county, Wis., where they lived about nine years. They then moved on to a farm in town McMillan, which was about forty years ago. On June 3, 1892 he was married to Miss Emma Hahn, town McMillan. He was operated on for tumor of the stomach Jan. 13, 1919, at which time he nearly succumbed. His health was fairly good until this spring when another tumor began to grow. He went to Beloit Saturday, Nov 13, with the hope of obtaining relief. The operation was performed Monday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 a. m. with the above result.. He was a member of the Lutheran church in Stratford and of lodge of Owls.

Frank, as every one called him, was a kind husband and father. He was ever one that gave a smile to those he met in the walks of life, one whose integrity was of the highest and always ready to do an act of kindness to those that were in need.

He received his education in the little school-house at McMillan where we went to school together. Later he helped his father clear the farm and worked for B. F. McMillan. After his marriage he went into business for himself. About ten years ago he bought an interest in the sawmill at Staadt, becoming sole owner soon afterwards and operating it until the time of his death. His wife, four children who are: Mrs. Roy Larson of Tomahawk, Irvin, Frank, Jr., and Otto, at home, and one sister, Mrs. Roy Heiger, of Minneapolis, are left to mourn his demise.

The family and relatives have the sincere sympathy of the community in this hour of bereavement.

The funeral will be held Monday, Nov, 22 at 11 a. m. at the house, thence to the church here, Rev. Diemer of the Lutheran church of Stratford officiating. Interment will be made in the cemetery in Marshfield.
