Sarah was born in North Carolina to John and Catherine Clapp. The Clapps were one of many "Pennsylvania Dutch" families that settled in N.C. The old Brick Church or "Der Klapp Kirche" founded in 1748 is very close to Alamance battleground which is where the "War of the Regulation" occurred in 1771.

She is the Mother of Perry and my Great Grandfather Nelson Harrison Wilson Sr. also Elizabeth (Wilson) Moffitt. Grace Moffitt Morrisett the daughter of Elizabeth wrote the following:
As mother and her parents and brothers and sisters were starting on their journey to Missouri from Illinois they passed through Springfield, Ill. the day the body of President Abraham Lincoln was brought back there for burial in 1865. Mother (Elizabeth Wilson) was 10 years old at the time. She told us of seeing the train, hearing the train whistle and bells ringing; the train having flags also the casket of President Lincoln with bunting draped over the casket; and that the casket was opened at the depot for the many people to view President Lincoln; and of the long lines of people who were there.

Sarah's mother "Catherine Turknett" was born 1792 Georgia and died 1827 Edgar County, Illinois
