Anne J. Hawkins, 92, of Taylorville died at 10:45 a,m, Monday April 4, 1994 at her residence.
Mrs. Hawkins was born April 8, 1901 in Taylorville, the daughter of Redmond and Mary Murphy Coady, who moved to the United States from Ireland as adults.
She married Lawson G. Hawkins January 19, 1924in Pawnee and they celebrated their 70th. wedding anniversary in 1994. Mrsd. Hawkins was a buyer and decorator for Bylpitt Furniture in Taylorv ille, retiring in 1976 after 33 years. She had lived most of her lifetime in Taylorville and was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Taylorville and was the last charter member and past regent of C.D. of A. Taylorville. St. Vincent's Memorial Hospital auxiliary and the Taylorville Woman's Club.
Surviving are her husband L.G. "Hawkie" Hawkins, Taylorville, one son, Donald and his wife LuAnne Hawkins of Mishawaka, Indiana; three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Connolly-McClure Funeral Home. There was a Prayer service at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father John O'Connell officiating and burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
