Ouintilian K. Groves, merchant of Tobinsport, was born in this county April 4, 1855, the youngest son of a family of nine boys and two girls of Samuel T. and Eliza (Huckaby) Groves, the father a native of Perry County, and the mother of Breckinridge Ky. The father was a prosperous farmer, who also followed merchandising. He lived in the township until 1859 when he moved to noreastern Missouri and remainded two years, suffering a loss of $10,000 on his goods, etc. during one of the rebel raids. He then returned to this county, where he died December 7, 1872, aged fifty-six years, respected by all. The mother yet living. Our subject was reared without prominent event, receiving an academic education at Rome. He began doing for himself at the age of sixteen, engaging in teaching and farming. December 24, 1874, he married Nancy E. Tobin who has borne him four children, Robert T., Mary J., Samuel and Thomas. After his marriage Mr. Groves farmed in Tobinsport, continuing farming. He is a Republican, has been justice of the peace and is one of the county's best citizens. His wife belongs to the Baptist Church.

Obituary - Q. K. Groves died at his home at Tobinsport, Ind., Monday afternoon. Dr. Simons said the direct cause of his death was bronchial pneumonia. He was fifty-four years of age, leaves a wife and three children; Tobin, Thos. and Mrs. Hawkins.
Mr. Groves was a man of broad information. He was a Mason and many good things can be said of his life. In politics he was successful, having held several offices. He was born and reared in Indiana near Rome, where his brothers, Josh and Thos. Groves live.

Quinlin K. Groves, 54 years old, died last Monday afternoon in Tobinsport. He was born and raised near Rome. Later he married and settled on a farm near Tobinsport and ran the same with success. He held several public offices and was generally respected. Besides his two sons and a daughter, he leaves two brothers. Peace to his ashes.
