Louis Peter Abate, 86, of East Haven passed away November 3, 2010 in the Hospital of St. Raphael.

Son of the late Louis P. and Elizabeth Grimaldi Abate. Brother of the late Marie Kimball. Also survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter, one brother and 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Prior to his retirement in 1990 Lou was a furniture and partition installer for Lubin Business Interiors for many years.

He was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII and served on a B-29 Bomber with the 20th Air Force in the 792nd Bomb Squadron, 468th Bomb Group, 58th Bomb Wing.

His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Saturday morning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the New England Air Museum, 58th Bomb Wing B-29 Restoration, 36 Perimeter Rd., Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
