Mrs. Alexander was the youngest of eight children in the family of John and Hattie (Haines) Briner. She attended Ainger one-room school in Bridgewater Township, then graduated from Montpelier High School in 1937. She lived in Cleveland for several years during WW II, then married returning serviceman Herbert Alexander in 1946. They established their home in the Stryker area. He preceded her in death in July 1998. She is survived by one sister, Bernice Briner, at the Hillside Country Living Nursing; children: Joan, of Schaumburg, Illinois; Steve of Stryker, Mark (Rebecca), of Springfield, Ohio; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Vivian was a lifelong homemaker with special interests in gardening and quilting. She became a member of the First Baptist Church of Stryker in 1946 and was active as a teacher and worker in many ministries of the church through the years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Stryker. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Friends may call at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker on Monday from 2 - 8 P.M. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Gospel Literature Services or the charity of the donor's choice.
