Marvin William Bate, 82, passed away December 26, 2012 in West Valley City, Utah.

Born July 5, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Jesse Walter and Hazel Finn Bate. Married Wilma Morrow June 22, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was past president of MSU, a high priest in the LDS Church and always a comic, keeping his wit until the end.

Survived by sons: Randy W. (Royene) Bate, Ricky W. (Peri) Bate and David G. Bate; daughter, Cindy Bate (Gordon) Roberts; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Vaughn (Donnarae) Bate.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 31, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the Jordan 6th Ward, 3650 West 4400 South. Viewings will be held Sunday, 5-7 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
