Vera Lee Hewitt (Aug. 18, 1935 - Dec. 27, 2012), who resided in Charleston, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, in a Fort Smith hospital.
She was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Charleston to the late Byron Tusing and Agnes (Jetton) Tusing. She was 77 years old.

She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kory Bakewell, and two brothers, Earl Dean Tusing and Tom Tusing.

Vera was a homemaker. She was a hairdresser and cook at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston and Methodist Nursing Home in Fort Smith. She was also a 1953 graduate of Charleston High School and member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Charleston.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Free Will Baptist Church in Charleston with the Rev. Jeff Holland and the Rev. Terry Scott officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth Hewitt; three sons, Kenny Hewitt and wife Cindy of Charleston, David Hewitt and wife Mary Jane of Charleston and Darrin Hewitt and fiancee Candy of Kansas; one sister, Etta Mae Grubb of Branson, Mo.; one brother, Ruble Tusing of Scranton; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roger Tusing, Kevin Speer, Bill Hewitt, Rodney Hewitt, Billy Bagwell and Dewayne Tusing.
