Owen Slaven, Early City Councilman, Dies
Owen Slaven, 83, died Wednesday morning at his home, 3839 Seward street, of heart disease. One of the first city councilmen in Omaha, Mr. Slaven was the oldest volunteer fireman here. He was a retired contractor.
Surviving are five daughters, Marie, Agnes, Alice, Mrs. Mabel Hood, and Mrs. Katherine O'Neal, all of Omaha; and four sons, Leo of Rock Island, Ill., and Sydney, Owen, jr., and John of Omaha.
Funeral services will be held Friday at St. Cecilia's cathedral at 9 a. m., Msgr. James Aherne conducting. Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher.
