Wood River, NE – Edward J. Eickhoff, 82, of Wood River died Saturday, July 6, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services will be 10 am Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Wood River. The Rev Steven R. Heinsen will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm Monday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Mr. Eickhoff was born Dec. 27, 1913, to August and Hulda (Muhlbach) Eickhoff at St. Michael. He attended school at Bluff Center. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He married Blanche Hanousek on Jan 8, 1937, in Grand Island. The couple lived and farmed in the St. Michael area until 1944. They then moved to Wood River, where he continued to farm. He also worked for the State Department of Roads. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, as well as the Platt-Duetsche Society and Eagles, both in Grand Island.

Survivors include two daughters, eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother Fred Eickhoff and one sister Marie both of Wood River. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche and one son, Leland.
